Location & ascent

Hochjoch-Hospiz, a refuge of the German Alpine Association, is located at 2,413 metres above sea level in the farthest Rofental valley in the Ötztal Alps and is an ideal starting point for numerous high mountain tours.

Arrival by car

For guests travelling by car, there are designated parking spaces available in Vent. Please note that parking is not permitted in Rofen. However, the Alpine Associations recommend travelling by public transport.

Access to the Hochjoch Hospiz

The approach to the Hochjoch Hospiz is from Vent. The trail leads across the meadows and over the suspension bridge to Rofen. From there, the trail continues to the Vernagthütte material cable car and then through the impressive Rofner Schlucht gorge. The path climbs moderately at first and then becomes steeper until it reaches Hochjoch-Hospiz. You should allow around 2.5 hours for the ascent.
